Our San Antonio trip from 2014

We met at Harker Heights High at 5:15 AM and promptly left at 5:30 AM. We visited many historical sites including all 5 missions and ordered dinner in Spanish at Mi Tierra Cafe and Bakery. The kids participanted in a day long scavenger hunt as we went from place to place. It was a lot of fun! We returned home around 11:30 PM at the school.

La Casa Enbrujada (The Haunted House) - octubre del 2016
The Haunted House was a lot of fun! The club members had a great time converting my classroom into a corridor of terror! It really took shape but the true spookiness came from the talented scare squad that unselfishly donated all of their free time for an entire week. To the right you can see many of those individuals that so selflessly scared the "snicklefritz" out of you for that week in October/November. Happy Halloween, more like, "Get me the "snicklefritz" out of this place!

We had a blast welcoming the new class of students to the school, and recruiting some awesome new members into the club with our awesome baked goods (in a totally, non-bribery sort of way).
Our first fundraiser for the club was amazing! Our club members volunteered at the Heights Homecoming Dance and sold a variety of snacks and fruity "mocktails" to the students. A big thank you goes out to everyone who helped support us that night! We had a great time celebrating Spanish Awareness month with the club! We learned about Spanish Heritage through out Central and South America through a lot of food, fun, and fiesta! This Halloween, we built our second annual Haunted House in Mr. Heikell's room! We really made the most out of the portable, and I (the super awesomely cool club historian) was trusted to use a hammer. (No, that faith was not misplaced.) The results were monumental. We raised a ton of green for the club, and we had students going crazy about the house! We had a great time scaring the pants off of everyone, and we're excited to do it again next year! Reminder, guys, we're having a bit of a potluck on December 9th to learn more about holiday time in Spanish countries! Bring your favorite holiday dish to share with the club! (P.S. GET PUMPED FOR THE HOT CHOCOLATE! We are not liable if you burn your mouth.) |
